Freeley successfully completed the fourth and final phase of demolition works at Alder Hey’s former hospital site, bringing the long-running programme to a close.
The works involved the removal of the remaining structures on the old hospital estate, following the opening of the new Alder Hey hospital in 2015. The final phase marked a significant milestone in the regeneration of the area, clearing the way for the return of parkland to the community.
The project included the full soft strip and mechanical demolition of the former Histopathology building, delivered safely within a live hospital environment. With operations taking place close to the hospital’s busy emergency department, solid traffic management controls were maintained throughout. Comprehensive measures were implemented to protect patients, staff, and visitors, and to proactively create environmental controls to minimise impact too all.
The works were completed safely, efficiently, and to programme, continuing our track record in delivering complex healthcare demolition projects.
