Victoria Pier

Colwyn Bay, UK

Freeley were appointed to undertake emergency dismantling works at Victoria Pier, Colwyn Bay, following severe storm damage that rendered the Grade II listed structure unsafe.

After the successful delivery of the Phase I emergency response, Freeley were appointed to complete the Phase II works. These included structural surveys, propping and edge protection, licensable and non-licensable asbestos removal, internal strip-out, controlled structural dismantling and demolition, pile removal, beach reinstatement, and the installation of new security fencing.

The works were delivered within a challenging tidal environment and involved extensive work at height on a listed structure. Structural elements were carefully dismantled and recorded for  secure storage and later re-erection.  Our team worked closely with Heritage staff throughout.

Throughout the project, Freeley worked closely with the HSE, Local Authority, Structural Engineers, CADW, the Pier Trust, and local residents, while implementing robust dust suppression and noise minimisation measures to reduce disruption.
