Wallasey Town Hall Annexes

Liverpool, UK

Freeley successfully completed the demolition and site clearance of the North and South Annexes at Wallasey Town Hall in 2024, unlocking a brownfield site for new housing as part of the Seacombe regeneration programme. The works were delivered on time, under budget, and within a sensitive town centre environment, adjacent to residential properties, a leisure centre, and Riverside Primary School.

The project included asbestos removal, internal soft strip, phased structural demolition, basement and foundation removal, on-site crushing and recycling, and final landscaping and secure fencing. High-reach excavators and robotic Brokk machines were used to safely manage demolition near occupied buildings, while traffic, pedestrian, dust, noise, and vibration controls protected the local community.

Freeley worked closely with Wirral Council and stakeholders throughout pre-construction, programme management, and handover. The project achieved 98% material recycling, supported local employment and suppliers, engaged local schools, and generated positive community impact – safe, efficient and defect-free.

"You did an amazing job, proud to be part of the wider team."
